1. Error: Dialog Box Heading: Main Screen
Unhandled exception in module …. (This paragraph is common for most .NET errors)
Could not connect to http://www.virtualquest.in/vquestvalidate.asmx TCP Error 10060.
Solution: This error means that either there is no Internet connection, or it is disconnected or there is some problem in the Internet connection and due to this the software is unable to establish a connection with the server. It can also happen that the server is overloaded or the server network is slow due to some other issues. Due to this the server is unable to send the validation file with the required network speed.
The only solution is to restart the system, connect to the Internet again if using a data card, then try the running VQ again. If again getting the above error, continue the restart cycle again a few times. Usually this would be solved in one or two attempts.
2. Error: The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded. To increase the quota, use the MaxReceivedMessageSIze property on the appropriate binding element.
Solution: This error means that the software validation was not successful or there was some problem. It is solved as of now and was in the VQ setup.
3. Error: Dialog Box Heading: setup.exe
Microsoft .NET Framework has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctly
Solution: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 gives this error during its installation and discontinues / exits.
This error is caused due to a faulty Windows 3.1 installation which existed already on the client’s system.
Remove the old Windows 3.1 installer through control panel – add/remove programs, reboot if required and then install a fresh copy of Windows 3.1 installer from the ‘soft’ folder. Then continue with the .NET 3.5 installation and it will be successful.
4. Error: Validation date is over. Please remove the file.
Solution: When a new user is created successfully but validation is not yet done from office / server side, the above error message will be displayed when the software is run (even with an Internet connection). After validation is successful from office end, this error no longer displays and the software runs fine.
5. Error: Dialog Box: Main Screen
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click ‘Continue’, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Solution: No solution yet / to discuss with Ganesh / Software Consultant.
6. Error: Clicking on any chapter (seen in IX English) gets back to the previous screen (Prose & Poem / Grammar)
Solution: Rebooting the system solved the above problem.
7. Error: Observed on a Compaq Presario Laptop with 1024 x 768 resolution and higher display resolutions.
When VQ is run, instantly the resolution changes to 800 x 600 and the software runs in this resolution. But when quitting VQ, the system resolution still remains at 800 x 600 and the user has to manually change it back to the original resolution which is troublesome for the user, especially for ones who do not know how to do it.
Solution: No solution yet.
8. Error: Cannot perform ‘>=’ operation on System.DateTime and SystemString.
Solution: This error is because Date settings (Control Panel – Regional Settings – Customize – Date – Short date format is not MM/dd/yyyy or M/d/yyyy. Or it was altered.
Unless it is like the above, VQ software will not run and will give the above error.
INFO / TIP:
When just updating VQ for a system that already has VQ installed, and getting some error (like no. 6 above) and deleting the config.eee and validate.eee files, IF the new username given when asked is the SAME as the old installation, AND there were no previous usernames registered other than that, THEN, there is NO NEED to delete any username / disk IDs since the old user filename on the server will be over-written. But validation is still required. (Observed in case of RakeshLaptop which is with Umesh)
