Virtual Quest Software Installation Notes

Preliminary Requirements for Virtual Quest Software Installation:

1. Hard disk space in the installing drive (C:, D:, E:, etc) should be ≥ 15 GB. If possible, install in C drive only.

2. The PC should have working sound, Internet and .NET Framework software installed. (If there’s no Internet connection, data card may be used.)

3. Ensure that all the drivers for the system (VGA, chipset, sound, USB, network card) are installed. (Device Drivers in the System Properties.)

4. Ensure that the client or any software does not change the system date once the installation is done. Also, check that the CMOS battery functions properly.

5. Very important: Check the date format in the regional settings in control panel and change the date format to MM/DD/YYYY or M/d/yyyy. Unless this is done, the software, even if installed and validated, will not run and an error about the Date.Time.String will be flashed.

Steps for installation of Virtual Quest Software:

1. Copy the soft, and the Data1 (from IX folder) and Data2 (from X folder) folders (from the portable hard disk) to a temporary folder on the hard disk.

2. If not already installed, install –

(i) Windows 3.1 Installer

(ii) .NETfx35

(iii) Shockwave Flash

(iv) TapAtl (Remove the words ‘Agamaa Edutainment Ltd’ from the path of installation in the Program Files folder)

3. For shockwave, copy all the files from

\soft\xtras for x\ Macromed\Shockwave10\xtras                        to

\windows\system32\Macromed\Shockwave10\xtras

4. Copy all the fonts from \soft\Newapp and install / paste them into the \windows\fonts folder.

5. Install the Virtual Quest software for the required class (IX or X) from the portable hard disk directly.

6. Cut all the sub-folders from the Virtual Quest’s IX / X data folder and paste them into the Program Files’ respective folder (e.g.: C:\Program Files\office\Virtual Quest 9). Also cut and paste the data.eee file into the respective folder.

7. Connect to the Internet or if it’s not available, use the data card to install and connect to the Internet. After installation and testing of the VQ software, disconnect from the Internet and remove the data card after clicking the USB icon in the system tray.

8. Run the installed VQ software.

9. Create a center ID based on the institution / school + area + class name.

10. Inform at office and ask to validate for the required period.

11. If needed, disconnect from the Internet and run the VQ application to test it.

12. Restart the PC and retest the VQ app. (one English and Hindi / Marathi chapter with fonts and sounds)

13. If all is OK, show demo to the client.

Miscellaneous:

1. In the system’s sound settings, set Wav to full and Volume to a low level (lesser than medium). Wav is for voice and Volume is for music. Increase the volume from the speakers instead. Otherwise music will be higher than the voice.

2. If automatic updates are enabled, disable them. If the system updates keep downloading in the background, the Internet speed will be slower and may cause errors while registering/validating VQ.

3. Disable the screen saver if it is enabled. Also, unset the power saving of hard disk and/or any other component to off since it might disturb while installation is running.

For Explaining to the client:

1.     For Std. IX, the Exit button in the VQ app quits the app but for Std. X, it returns back to menu.

2.     The NEXT button flashing means that the chapter is over and the users should click the button if they want to proceed to the next chapter.

3.     Except for languages, all other subjects include the <> buttons
